I am working on rainfall induced slope stability using FLAC.
For a give slope geometry and material properties the slopes applied with "large strain mode" take longer time for the FOS to reduce less than 1. While for the slope with normal stability analysis (no large strain mode) takes lesser time.
Any answer for why it takes larger time for the slope to fail?

You mean to say that, its better to terminate large strain mode and run the analysis with conventional mode.

I agree with Omar that large strain models take more time to converge because of mesh being updated in calculation steps. Because of the reduced computation time to reach convergence, people are tempted to use small strain models sometimes, which is okay for problems with no geometric nonlinearity. However, for situations in which there is large geometrical nonlinearity the two approaches can give very different numerical outcomes.
In large strain mode, co-ordinates of mesh keep on updating itself with every step and it takes times to update every points with a new co-ordinates, which makes this process cumbersome. Also sometimes, you may encounter illegal geometry in case of inconsistent (two co-ordinates having same value) mesh co-ordinates due to large strain. So better to use small strain models for problems like slopes stability.
