Slide scanner applications for histo(patho)logy teaching?

We are planning to start using slide scanner images for histology teaching (high-res scans of entire tissue sections). Can you recommend applications for storage and online sharing of this kind of tissue imaging data, enabling smooth viewing and zooming of the huge images on various mobile equipment? There is quite a nice WebMicroscope system developed here in FInland (http://www.webmicroscope.net/) but I would like to compare this to other possibly available solutions.

We use the aperio ScanScope with ImageScope software. I'm not sure if we use it for online sharing, or rather via intranet, but I remember that this may have been an option when the system was being set up.
