I like to determine molecular weight of the starch through SEC. I'm following the attached manuscript (Hasjim et al. 2010, Biomacromolecules, 11, 3600-3608). I have a query in the software analyzed for SEC chromatograms (WinGPC Unity software, provided by Polymer Standard Services, Germany). Do this only software is necessary, or my lab's installed version "Openlab EzChrom"?

You don't need any specific software. You can use whichever allows to obtain the data you want. You just need to report the one you used.

Using specialized "GPC" software will make it a lot easier for you to quickly calculate the polydispersity, Mn, Mw and other classical values. The software is usually supplied in the form of an add-on product for use with standard Data Analysis CDS (ChemStation, EZCHrom etc). You do not specifically need the software, but it is already setup with the proper formulas and a wide range of curve fit types for use with your own calibration data standards (you do have proper standards, right? Having standards which closely match the form your sample(s) is in improves accuracy).
