I have heard that normally no microorganism would be able to grow on pure DMSO. However, I have already seen some laboratories that have the protocol to filter it. I normally use it as a cryoprotectant to freeze animal cells. Is DMSO sterility something I should be concerned about?

No question is silly until the doubt is cleared.
You should use that product of DMSO which is labelled as cell culture tested. This product can be directly used as a cryoprotectant without the need to filter sterilize it.
