Erroneous articles are occasionally seen published in Journals. Even the Journals with huge fleet of Editors/Reviewers may face such instances despite their elaborate editorial protocol.

As published literature serves as foundation for successors to base their research upon, should it not be imperative to incorporate provisions for withdrawal/ rectification/ deletion (or other appropriate action) of such an article, once detected, with adequate publicity so as to protect other researchers from being misled? It can well be visualized that such a provision will save a lot of efforts/resources/time from getting wasted.
