Modern popular songs with vulgar lyrics, I think in the public interest, government may take care and advice to remove some of the undecent words from the songs. Songs are recreation to public and each and every person enjoys.
Josep - Not only popular songs that have vulgar lyrics but also anything that contains vulgarity must be banned. Society works on a certain degree of morality, (a sense of right and wrong) and anything which degrades the standard of morality must be banned.
To check the vulgarity in society not only the government should be a party but also the civil society can play an important role in checking it. Mass media needs to check itself because in contemporary society it has taken the role of a great teacher.
A song, play, story or novel is composed/written with a purpose of communicating with the audience/reader the feelings or views of the composer/singer/writer, these views are often about some societal norms, practices or political scenarios, to express the views they resort to metaphors, undertones and also sometimes a language/words that may be offensive to certain sections of society, but the audience always have the ultimate discretion in accepting or rejecting the views expressed or in more intelligent manner, distill out the essence and discarding the vulgarity, banning do not solve the problem because in most cases, the situations described are what is actually prevailing currently in the society, banning would be like turning deaf ear or shut eyes to those prevailing corrupt practices being brought to notice of a larger population through these songs or written materials.
vulgarity is a relative term, what may seem vulgar to one may be acceptable to another, and also, concept of what is decent and what is not has evolved throughout human civilization, and still continues to be so.
