I am noticing a trend of conferences accepting works as short papers when they should be rejected due to quality issues. A few years ago, I had an understanding that the term "short" was used for incomplete works or position papers, for instance. In general, this kind of work has few pages (e.g., three or four pages). Nevertheless, some conferences are using the "short" term to classify lower relevant works or works with different issues (language, organization, research methodology, among others), even when the works are complete and have eight or more pages.
I would like to know your opinions regarding this practice. Mine is that the term short should be used just for concise papers regarding page quantity and, consequently, content.
