I am new to the immunohistochemistry world and am currently about to teach myself the basics on some sections of C57BL/6 mouse lung. Does anyone have any good antibody recommendations or proteins to stain for in the mouse lung that are not finicky and have given good results?

This is very awkward question. I will suggest you to pull out some papers on mouse knockout and lung defects in Pubmed as I did for you, read them carefully, you will narrow down to few lung markers than you ask the question that you want antibodies for those lung markers. You will be convinced after reading papers which markers you want by understanding the importance those in these mice. Antibodies are very expensive, so reading before is important:

use only sigma or invitrogen primary antibidy, i have performed ihc using c57/blc mice in endometriosis.
do not use cell signaling antibody for IHC.
