I have rainfall data of three rain gauge stations,that i can convert in weighted mean rainfall,
now as far as discharge is concern it is available three hours,
8,11,14,17 hours
can i take average of these to co-relate with weighted mean rainfall
or only consider first say at 8 hours.

so,runoff available 3 hourly,
shall i convert each value at 3 hour to average which represent whole catchment runoff?

Well,
if you means that there is one record each 3 hours, here you can calculate the daily runoff and make relation, but if that there is only three records during the day, here it is so difficult to get correct relation between them, it is so bias result.

It depends on the target and what do you have as a data, also it depends on the area of your catchement.
