The short answer to your question is that you should not skip the measurement model, as if the reliability and validity of the used scale were not checked, thus any interpretation for the structural model would be totally meaningless.

With all respect to that professor, but the suggested approach is not correct. On one hand, the models used in SEM are typically built based upon a base theoretical model as (TRA, TBP, TAM, UTAUT) or others and with the inclusion of newly constructs(factors) to fulfil the research questions being invested, one the other hand, this approach to build the research model includes scale adaption from different studies, although each study scale has been validated, the use of different scales from different studies do not necessarily imply that adapted scale is also validated, and if suppose we would follow this approach then there is no need to validate any new scale as it is already coming from validated scale, which makes no sense.

Therefore, I strongly believe that if you used a scale that has been adapted from different studies, then it becomes a new scale and to go through the validation process is a must.
