The accuracy of chest computed tomography in symptomatic patients is high, but used as a single diagnostic test, computed tomography can not safely diagnose or exclude coronavirus infection. Point of care Lung Ultrasound is reducing reliance on CT in many centres. Lung ultrasound is a very simple technique that can be learnt easily. Lung ultrasound is detecting abnormalities even in asymptomatic patients. There is a large influx of patients it will be difficult to send these patients to the radiology department then clean the room and x-ray machine before imaging the next patient. Portable x-rays will also be challenging. Tech will don PPE, Image, clean machine, doff PPE!
