Without self-confidence one will develop inferiority complex. So this quality if very important. However, too much of it leads to pride and arrogance, which kills teamwork and team spirit. Thus the need for self-confidence has to be kept in its proper place.

To be frank, this topic is not my forte. But I found that it is interesting to be discussed openly and academically.

To chip in, imho, higher self confidence alone will not likely to cause a better world. There are a number of other factors that can contribute to those. Based on my life observation, collective positive values including trust, passion, general good behaviour, etc. is another factors to be considered.

Unfortunately, several research shows that to embed the above factors into someone, the task is not easy and require more time to accomplish. It is largely because those traits is considered as non-technical in nature.

Therefore, a recurring question on "how much?" is always being asked, which basically related to its level. It is because, too much self-confidence will deteriorate its good causes (as highlighted by previous commentor), too much kindness will be abuse by other people (this is true in current world), and others, which eventually surfacing several confounding factors.

Thus, for myself, "moderation" or "wasatiyyah" is an ample level to measure those traits. But by "how much?", it is up for explorations and continuous research :-)

Self-confidence is the best way to express about him/herself in a safe way and confidence. So by developing such confidence someone creates a better opportunity to have a sustainable environment or world. Perhaps some people wrongly take this self-confidence to hurt others; professionally in construction industry in order to implement what we have in mind through paper work into tangible construction we need self-confidence. So by having such quality we can make a better world within a constraints of construction.
