Hello Neha. We used laser-generated aqueous suspensions of silver nanoparticles in a study looking at citrus greening disease. We were trying to develop a method to kill the bacterium Candidatus Liberibacter that damages the leaf vascular system, but not the psyllid that carries the bacterium, so that we didn't impact the beneficial insect population. Laser generation is nice as it's possible to generate large volumes of high-concentration metal nanoparticles with tight, almost monochromatic size distributions. The high zeta potentials of the AgNPs formed by this chemical-free technique ensure that they remain in suspension for long periods of time and can be transported in bulk.
