Al-Qaeda and ISIL (aka Islamic State) are some of the leading transnational terrorist groups who have very strong corporate level media production capabilities. Internet research data so far is minimal on the linkage of these groups to hacking/criminal organizations, that on a daily basis make a living by hacking for profit.
Looking for some alternate scholarly data stores - research hints on this subject.

This is an interesting topic and I probably don't have any answers. One thing I would say is that a few months ago, some people posted in Kaggle over 170,000 tweets from pro-ISIL accounts. Whether these tweets address your question, I am not sure. However, it is easy to download all these tweets in a spreadsheet and then do some quick searches to see whether or not some accounts are tweeting on your area of interest. Here is a link to the Kaggle site: https://www.kaggle.com/kzaman/how-isis-uses-twitter. There is some limitations to this data, but you may be able to find tweeter handles that are still in use or some of the hashtags that are still active. Once you can do that, you can do searches via the Twitter API to see if there are any connections between known hacking/criminal organizations and ISIL. How can you find this out? It will be a lot of work but you could see if known accounts connected to hacking/criminal enterprises are liking or retweeting the messages posted by ISIL or ISIL supported accounts. Here you can suggest that there is a conversation or some type of connection. I KNOW that this is not the answer you are looking for but it could be a good start... Best of luck, Carlos
