I'm a med-chem PhD student and I would like to improve my skills in creating scientific illustrations for articles and conferences. Can you please suggest some software (better if free or discounted for academics) or on-line course to learn how to do this? Thanks in advance

I would recommend to check Edward Tufte work, in particular his book The Visual Display of Quantitative Information, which provides good information about what to do and what not to do when preparing graphics of data.

For easy/ready images and create content: Mind the Graph or Biorender (I prefer Biorender) For adjust plots, create very personal schematic drawing, and prepare figures for publications: Adobre Ilustrator, Corel Draw (I use Corel) For more artistic content like realistic and with many features to really draw with graphical tablet like wacom or xp-pen: there are several, but if you want something for windows I use Medibang, is free.
Hello Arianna. I think that it depends in how much time do you want to spend in doing a scientific illustration. But, short answer to me:
For all these software there are several tutorials to solve any doubt or problem.
