Hello, I am a PhD student in sociology and I am researching the topic of science popularization. I need a few questionnaires about science popularization, attitudes towards science, scientific participation, and the influence of media.
Not sure of the context you are interested in, but there are a few existing data sets in the U.S. you might take a look at. One is from the Pew Research Center (2024) on public trust in scientists (https://www.pewresearch.org/science/2024/11/14/public-trust-in-scientists-and-views-on-their-role-in-policymaking/). There are other related topics on the website. For example, there are similar versions of the survey and corresponding data reports going back to at least 2015, so you can look at trends. They have another one about what Americans know about science (https://www.pewresearch.org/science/2019/03/28/what-americans-know-about-science/) as well as various surveys related to media and about science news and information (https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2022/11/10/americans-report-more-engagement-with-science-news-than-in-2017/).
The National Science Foundation (National Science Board) also shares public data related to perceptions of science and technology (https://ncses.nsf.gov/pubs/nsb20244/introduction). It looks like there is data from at least 2022 and 2024, but I thought they had earlier data you might find if you are interested in exploring trends or shifts.
