Does anyone know of any paper or research work related to the efectiveness of reducing the road wide within urban areas with the purpose of reducing speed and increasing safety? Thank you!
iI would like to suggest you look for other parameters that affect the road safety. I think reducing the road width can not be an effective solution. I will suggest you to search for those topics: The effects of lane width/ road width on drivers’ behavior or driver's speed and the effect of lane width/road width on traffic safety. so you can get an appropriate answer.
In one of our studies (Lee, Chong, Goonting, & Sheppard, 2017), we found that one of the factors which affect drivers' judged speed on the appropriate speed to drive is the width of the road (in line with Goldenbeld & van Schagen, 2007), which you might be interested in? Hope it helps :)
