Invitrogen offers a RNA quantification kit using cells and "omitting" the initial RNA extraction steps. Instead crude RNA is released and measured, apparently with higher sensitivity and good accuracy.
Does anyone have experience with this kit or similar kits? Preferably using yeasts or moulds?

I've not used this exact kit, but have used a virtually identical one. These kits are intended for cultured mammalian cells, you might have trouble with the initial lysis steps using yeast/mod due to the presence of a cell wall. Best of luck!
I have used the fastlane cDNA synthesis with good results for my doctoral studies (in mouse cells).
