With more than 8 million members from nearly all over the world, Research Gate has offered the best opportunity for knowledge sharing, teaching-learning, discussions on various topics, and information about many scholars. RG is a great fruits garden from which scholars can, if they desire, pick a variety of fruits which nourish the brains.
RG is better than a webinar. I, personally, have attended many seminars but in some of them I was not allowed to comment (but just to listen). Here, there is the precious freedom that is not allowed by other sites.
RG management has to be careful from very few members who enter the site to downvote or to collect many upvotes by devious ways. Watch well & you will discover them!

There are facilities to make comments on research papers available on RG, hence it serves as a Webinar.
However it is a discussion group also by asking and answering questions.
It is also a school as curious people get answers to their questions.
I agree with colleagues. I think RG it is one of the great inventions in recent times with regard to socialization and knowledge production in differents areas of science. I am pleased to be able to share and meet new research different and competent colleagues from different parts of the world. I hope RG can go further!

RG may not be a WEBINAR, in the strict definitional sense. But it is really a platform where a lot of people - all experts in their respective fields - discuss, debate, and rub arguments with one another, on their own pace and convenience. So, RG, in essence, emerges out something considerably more valuable than a time-constrained and space-constrained webinar online or a seminar at a geographical place.

I Have attended many webinars in the field of process and industrial automation. Most of them were organized by companies who are producers of new products/technologies...
ResearchGate is not a webinar, as webinar is organized strictly in one-two hours, restricted number of participants is required, while specific sort of software is required, as well as equipment required at end user cite/the participant level.
We do not have such restriction here at ResearchGate, so RG discussion seems to me much better than webinars.
Maybe in near future, it will be nice to get this issue (Webinar). Right now for me, the RG is a good platform to commenting and to get new articles.
Indeed, ResearchGate is a viable platform to share research outputs and validate knowledge.
