I would like to repeat a silver stain on a gel that I did not stain for long enough before adding the stop solution. Is it a requirement to destain for this purpose and if so, how is this best done? Thank you in advance!
You can re-stain without the need to destain. What I usually do is to start using the sensitizer and then repeat the protocol as usual. The only problem is that there will be a silver excess so that a precipitate will form.
If the purpose of the assay requieres to probe reproducibility I recommend you to repeat the whole electrophoresis.
