I have a near brand-new 3.2/300 superdex column with compressed resin; plus a bunch of old ones in different states of decay. I would like to fill the gap with fresh resin, but these columns were obviously not designed to be re-opened. Has anyone successfully attempted to repair these? I'd like to give it a try, since the alternative would be to throw the column away...
(Running these upside-down does not help: the gap would appear on the other end. Unlike 10/300 columns, 3.2/300s do not have adapters).
While it is often not practical to do so, yes, you can open them, remove and wash the resin, then fill and top off with fresh resin. *Recommend using new column hardware to do so.
The frits seem to come off relatively easily; I hope they will snap back on without leaks... anyway, I am giving it a try, there is nothing to lose...
