I do have 25 studies which have reported 'age' and 'internal motivation' in their correlation matrix tables. The correlation matrix of each study reports the mean of 'age' of participants and mean of 'internal motivation' scale.
I am thinking to run a regression using the 'mean scores' of 'age' and 'internal motivation' to see how internal motivation change by age. However, I am not sure if this method in true.
Any idea would be appreciated!
One issue with using this method is different response systems commonly used for motivation-type scales. Sometimes researchers using the same scale will use a different Likert rating system.
For example, in the motivation scale you are looking at, is it a 5-point rating system? Or 7-point? Are all 25 studies consistent with how they measure motivation? If not, it will impact the reported means in the correlations matrices. Some means may just be higher or lower due to the different Likert scale.
