I have a metal coated sample with a graphene oxide film and want to organically reduce it to rGO.
If I'm using sodium borohydride, do I simply make the solution using DI water? I know it has a violent reaction. If so, what concentration do I use?
I'm also looking into using ascorbic acid if anyone has advice for that as well.
It may not help in reducing GO to rGO. I don't think it would bring about any reduction in oxidation state further.

Sodium borohydride reduction contaminates everything with boron. This is detrimental to many applications such as catalysis. Better reducing agents may be hydrogen, H2, or 5/10% hydrazine hydrate. I can't comment on the suitability, though, of either for reducing GO to rGO.
Dear Brooke S., as pointed out by Alan F Rawle the use of hydrazine hydrate is an established method which works quite well.
Reduction with ascorbic acid is also worth a try. This has recently been advertised as a "green reduction". The articles cited below are available on RG. Another relevant paper describing this method is attached as pdf.
