Are there any recommended sources for purchasing red blood cells in the USA? We are running a quick experiment and want a pure red blood cell source (as opposed to extracting ourselves and having mixed cell populations). Thank you!

What do your mean by a pure red blood cell source and why you need it. Is you need it for ethnic study ?
If you have ethical clearance, I think hospitals can arrange blood samples for you. The conditions to consider a volunteer healthy are usually : male, non-smokers, age-25-30 years, body weight 55-75kg, resting heart rate - 70-80 beats per minute, systolic pressure- 115-127 mm Hg and diastolic pressure 80-90 mm Hg, devoid of any hematological or inflammatory disorders. Once you collect the whole blood in EDTA tubes, you can then centrifuge it to separate the RBCs.
Hi everyone, sorry for the delay. To clarify, we currently are buying whole de-fibrinated blood but have only been able to find a source for this kind of product outside of the country. It is very cheap but shipping costs are high and it is only good for 2 weeks. I was curious if there was a similar affordable source in the USA anyone could recommend? We isolate the red blood cells from the de-fibrinated blood for use in our experiments for drug delivery, so technically we only need the red blood cells (why I mentioned pure). Any species should be ok for our preliminary studies.
And thank you, Manikuntala. We do not currently have clearance to collect human blood but could look into this as another option.
