Hi, all.

I am wondering if there is any chemogenetic or optogenetic AAV that can drive expression of receptors in active neuronal subtypes (e.g., CaMKII+ or GAD+).

I know that active populations might be "trapped" by combining

[ pAAV-cFos-Cre ] + [ pAAV-hSyn-DIO-{Receptor} ]

In this case, all cFos-positive neurons, including excitatory and inhibitory ones, should express receptors. I wonder if one can restrict the active population to a specific neuronal subtype.

I found [pAAV-CamKII-DIO-hM4D(Gi)-mCherry] (Plasmid #190240) that, in combination with AAV-cFos-Cre, does exactly what I want. Hovewer, I cannot find the same or similar for inhibitory neurons. I am not looking for chemogenetic-based AAV. It could be an optogenetic receptor. Or it could be based on the Tet-off/Dox system, not cFos/DIO. I just would like to know any possible methods for managing the activity of active sub-neuronal populations.
