Yes I totally agree Markus. That might be the reason for TESLA to use these in their fleet. Actually pre crash data is not found in detail in literature . I am looking for temperature of individual cells in the pack to understand initial thermal conditions.
Tesla is controlling the cell temperature with a liquid cooling system to temperatures below about 55 deg C. Problems also occur at very low temperatures below minus 15 deg C. In general, Tesla can handle this because of the huge battery capacity: in case of high battery performance output, the large energy storage content smooths the battery peak load (leading to a relatively small increase of temperature). In case of low ambient temperatures, the large energy content also helps to provide a certain battery power for starting a ride. Once started energy flow, the chemical reactions in the battery support warming up.
