I would like to quantify DNA using gel photos instead of extracting the DNA from the gel. Please help if you have information on a software that I can use to do this.
We normally do this with Adobe Photoshop. When you open it, a "histogram" appears on the upper right side. When you mark your region of interest, it gives you a number corresponding to the "white-intensitiy".
You can use any of the software on the 'geldoc' system you might be using for caturing your gel photographs....if not you can still use many 1-D gel analysis software freely available on internet....'Labimage' is also a simple a good software...
now dear caliper imaging system and MultiNA technologies are also available where u can quantify the DNA in less cost then bioanalizer...but still they r little expensive, as per Arnab suggestion...u can go for quantification by software....if you use AlphaInotech corp ..FluorChem 5500 software...u can easily quantify with rf values
