I am interested in any reference about thin magnetic monolayeres with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy produced ( in particular by PVD ) on Al substrate or sandwiched between two layers of Al.
Years ago they fabricated the first Hard Disk for PC by sputtering a layer of 100 nm magnetic material on to an Al plate. You can modify the growth conditions during sputtering deposition (the pressure or the RF power) to obtain vertical magnetic anysotropy. I guess that the magnetic layer was Fe2O3 or NiO. You can make the magnetic layer 1 micron thick
Thanks a lot, Valentin. I was aware that there are hard discks with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. Are you sure that it was grown on a Al substrate? Could you provide the reference? Thank you very much again.
