PV never competes with oil as it has less than 1% of the power generation all over the world. However, by 2030 PV will be the first competing parameter of oil as its share will be grown to 10-20% of the energy marked.May be today the PV is not recognized in some places in the world put at the near future all the world will depend on it.

Thanks Miqdam. I agree with you that in term of capacity PV is not competing. But frankly speaking am asking about competing in term of electricity cost of energy CoE.

PV technology is a developing technology and R&D is continuous on it. PV cost was lowered highly in the last 10 years. Would it compete with oil from CoE point of view?Yes it would certainly in few years.

Dear Miqdam: The PV CoE is going done with time and it became competing now. One of our research achievements in Oman, we found that electricity CoE using PV is cheaper than using natural gas or diesel.

You are totally right. However, if we are talking about specified area, in Iraq, the PV cost of energy still high and not acceptable for Iraqis.

Dear Miqdam: The CoE of PV systems start competing with oil electrical power plant CoE even with current oil prices, which are fluctuating a round +/- 50 USD/ barrel. The drop in oil prices from a round 120 USD/ barrel in 2014 to the half make a clear damage for many economics. This instability make many countries think about using oil for electricity production. In other hand, the PV prices is continuous to reduced to be less than 1 USD/ 1 Watt. I think in the near future we will see more boost in renewable energy (particularly solar) and reduction in oil usage for electricity generation.

Dear Miqdam: What do you think: is the PV/T will accelerate the PV usage or keeping PV separate from solar Thermal systems is better since we will pay for the cheap PV system only?
