Instead of asking money from the reader of the paper, the publishers of the Journals and Edited book, are asking money from the Scientist/Researcher. They should give money to the scientist/Researcher because they are the main contributor.The publishers are earning money without doing anything.

Your point of view is interesting. However, i would not say that the publisher is doing nothing because actually they do. Extending from managing review process, publication, indexing and in some open-access journals, printing. This has to be covered in cost because the publisher will not do that task for free. I do agree that APC sometimes can be very high to pay. However, in the majority of cases, the authors' universities are the one to pay, not the authors themselves. My university does not and so i usually do not go there unless i have a coauthor whose university can pay such fees.
Finally, we have to keep in mind that academic publishing for publishers is a fo-profit job and money must be collected from the reader's side or the author's side to make his research accessible to all readers.

It is true that the real contributors i.e., authors and reviewers are not paid by journals and inspite of it they are not given free access to all the articles (of others). The contributions of reviewers even remains mostly as voluntary service, not added directly to their academic scores.

Perhaps, this is done in order to maintain standard in academic research, avoid unwanted misuse and working of publishing processes. On one side, a researcher always got some funding/ scores/ acievement for their contributions, but it may not so for the publication house. So, it is also reasonable.

Very Interesting idea. Royalty for authors of the the papers. Like for books !
But the problem will be with idea of open access. If you ask readers to pay however minimum that amount be then its not open access any more !!

If we avoided publishing with those publishers (They are not the majority), they will revise their policies regarding APC. They can earn enough money covering their effort by several ways from the published articles other than APC.

your idea is very correct and relevant. Journals are doing nothing without business. it is bizarre that the reputed journal are asking for APC when from formatting to everything has been done by author.
