I have been puzzled by a question about the choice of a journal for research results. Nowadays, many researchers choose a popular journal (with a high impact factor) rather than a specific journal in his/her field (in general lower impact factor). Is that a correct choice or just a social issue?
Changming - the choice is either 'personal' or a team-effort, depending on the nature and collaboration involved in the research study. Personally, I like to target 'popular' journals with a relatively high Impact Factor (depending on the discipline field of course) - and that is a good way to 'cover all bases'. Not all have the luxury of covering the two bases, as a number of threads have uncovered in RG i.e. English as a first language or not, neophyte researchers versus experienced researchers, open access or not, review process and times etc.
It is better to go for a specific journal than a general one whatever be the impact factor. Specific journals with low impact factor publish tough articles, which is why people do not generally read such articles, which is why impact factors of such journals are low in general. Please do not run after high impact factor journals.

here we have tow answer that's completely different. this question exactly is my problem and I don't know what I do?
for example my branch is horticulture and horticultural journal have low IF and there are some general journal with high IF.
which of this tow way is perfect?
