We know that the defect energy of a foreign at in a solid (crystalline) is well defined and can be calculated from e.g. DFT method.

However, when I tried to get solute energy of a foreign atom in a liquid, e.g. Al at 1000K, I found that there is no clear definition about it.

Can someone help me about this ?
