can some body describe to me about the relationship between Proteomics and Genomics?can Proteomics deliver the desired data/information to all organisms with/without their Genome sequence data available?whats the relationship between the two?
now i get some picture.googling helps. if genome sequence data base is available that would make Proteomics easy but if there is no data one could go to denovo sequencing mainly by MS/MS method.so does Edman sequencing can help as well some times.
Because proteomics data could be efficiently obtained through searching the MS/MS information against sequence database, which is derived from genomic sequences, Current protein identification is highly reliant on genomics. On the other hand, proteomics could provide enriched information otherwise could not be provided by genomics, like protein quantitation, post-translation modification, protein degradation, etc.
