I have synthesized a polyaniline based composite and coated it on nickel foam. I performed CV in three electrode system at a potential window of -0.2 - 0.8 v. but the problem is :
When I perform the GCD experiment at the current density of 1 A/g, the potential window is between 0.45 - 1.23 v where water reactions occur (at 1.23 v).
How can I resolve this problem?

what is your composite WE (and the RE) ?
Also, what is the thickness of your (composite) WE ?
Ioannis Samaras the working electrode is PANI/MnO2 and also for the PANI itself the result is almost the same. the reference electrode is Ag/AgCl.
I haven't measured the thickness but the active material mass is between 0.5-1.5 mg on a surface of 0.5*1 nickel foam.

blending of PANI (and PANI/MnO2) with nano-carbon materials (and CNTs) results to superior WE (nanocomposites' PANI, supercapacitor) features[1].
Also, pre-treat[2] the Ni-foam surface, before PANI nanocomposites' deposition.
