Having published a number of pre-prints, I observed there is a growing concern about preprint article.
Has your preprint favour or jeopardise the peer review of your work?
Does the advantage outweighs the disadvantages particularly for emerging researchers?
What happens to science, in case of falsely declared data with permanent doi assigned to the pre-print?
Do you nurse any fear publishing your work as preprint?
NB: Your candid opinion would be very helpful.
I do not subscribe to preprints. I prefer attending numerous conferences where my work in progress will be remodelled with suggestions and criticism. I can publish it later.
I sincerely do not see the advantage in preprint (if I understand it to be reporting ongoing research) except the scientist and the community of experts he or she is accessible to (also via conferences or whatever) have come to the end of their energy in attempting to solve a problem and then want to make it open for possible intervension from others that my have a key.
Of course except for very novel discovery that authors do not want others to report before theirs...
