I found following list of formulas to predict iCa value from TP and Albumin in other spp. but i want to know that any specific formula is there for bovines

  • AdjtCa(TP) (in mg/dL) = Measured tCa concentration (in mg/dL) – (0.4 X serum TP concentration [in g/dL]) + 3.3, and
  • Adj tCa(alb) (in mg/dL) = Measured tCa concentration (in mg/dL) – albumin concentration (in g/dL) + 3.5.

    Formulae for calculated parameters –

    1) Corrected Total Calcium (mg/dl) = Total Calcium (mg/dl) + 0.8 ( 4 - Albumin(g/dl))

    2) Corrected Total Calcium in mmol/Litre = Corrected Total Calcium (mg/dl) x 0.25

    3) Calculated Free Calcium in mmol/Litre

    i) % Protein bound = 0.8 x Albumin (g/L) + 0.2 x Globulin (g/L) + 3

    ii) Calculated Free Calcium (mg/dl) = Total calcium - Protein bound Calcium

    iii) Calculated Free Calcium in mmol/Litre = Calculated Free Calcium (mg/dl) x 0.25

    Author:3

    iCa = [0.9 + (0.55 x tCa – 0.3 x albumin)]

    iCa = (6 x tCa – TP/3)/(6 + TP)

    ctCa = tCa – 0.707 x (albumin – 3.4),
