In a cloud computing scenario, where i need to compare N service providers with respect to their QoS requirements in terms of attributes and sub-attributes. Over here, assume that am comparing 3 service providers with their 18 QoS attribute values provided with the user requirements given for about 13 attributes (one - one comparison). Values provided can either be numeric, boolean, unordered set or range. For eg
In general, you need a model expressing what is expected and compare the expectation with what you actually have. If done carefully, you can have recursive and generative models that handles general cases. This requires meta-modeling.
A simple exampel of generative and recursive model is to take Kipling's servants (what?, why?, how?. who?, when? where?) and apply to activities (which can be organized into hierarchies of activities interacting in various ways). By asking what activities are interesting?, why are these activities interesting (goals), how is this activity is performed (in terms of subactivities)?, who performs these activities (roles/actors), when is this activity performed (resource usage, frequency, periodicity, deadlines)? and where is this activity performed? and then state that all requirements must contain at least an answer to each of these questions for each activity, then you have a minimal criteria according to this model. As mentioned, it is generative and recursive; if you have hierarchies of activities, then you may express criteria how these hiearchies are constructed. For example, do they follow Alters work models? Do they follow Conways law?
So what is the model expressing what you want in a set of requirements?
