Please I am working on rice a pot experiment with 2 kg of soil and biochar in China. I will like to calculate the liming for soil but i have no previous experiment with this. I have been trying to find a step by step approach to no avail
I found a video where the students followed the procedure to weigh 10g of soil into conical flasks and add distilled water in ranges of 0-25 mL and CaOH in ranges of same 0-25 mL and measure the pH. But they failed to provide any further information on what to do next.

Limestone reacts only with the nearby soil, so mixing the limestone into the soil rather than leaving the limestone on the surface is necessary. Disking alone is not enough and may result in green stripes in plant growth. Disking followed by plowing, and further working in of the limestone is best.Lime is beneficial when mixed well into the soil where seeds are germinating and plant roots growing. Lime should be placed deep enough to serve these purposes. The Soil testing is must

The depth of reaction of liming material into bottom soil is small in clayey soils in comparison to sandy soils. The upper 5 cm of pond soil has the greatest influence on pond water quality and shrimp and fish production. All three methods of application resulted in an increase in pH in this layer. These results and the increases in total alkalinity and total hardness concentrations confirm that all three methods of application were effective. The rate and the depth of reaction were not related to the method of application. The maximum benefit of agricultural limestone was achieved in one to two months.

Your input yielded no help.If you had taken your time to read the question you would have know i am in CHINA and have no access to google. It seems , you want to do your experiment in pots , the best course would be to mix the lime with whole amount of soil..hope , you feel satisfied.
