I am currently working on the topic the effects and interaction of heavy metal (Cd and Cr) contamination, fertilizer ( NPK) and biochar remediation on rice plant. It is a pot experiment.
I am using a pot of diameter 13 cm and 4kg of paddy soil. I will be applying Cd and Cr at 5, 25 and 50mg per kg of soil. Fertilizer and Biochar are constant.
1. How much fertilizer will I need to add per pot
2. How much biochar will I need to add per pot
According to the ratio of fertilizers, 60:30:40 NPK, 15 ppm to 30 ppm on the basis of pot,soil, plant
Soil heavy metal pollution has a pernicious effect effect on soil microbial ....rice plants. Similarly, Cui et al. ( 2011 ) and Cui et al. ( 2012 ) found reduced Cd uptake in paddy fields and in a soil cropped. Many heavy metal can produce chelation complex with fertilizer. ..so you must add solution with water irrigation or foliar application to deliver plants hyperacumulation uptake
Ayaz Ahmad thank you for you input. With your recommendation i guess i will go with 30 ppm of both fertilizer and biochar which will mean 30Mg/Kg of each per pot.
Raghad Mouhamad thank you. My initial idea is to artificially contaminate the soil with heavy metal solution leave it for 7 days and then add the fertilizer (NPK) again leave it for 7 days then add the biochar and then leave it to homogenize in the green house for 30 days. what do you think about this idea.

the plant uptake any metals when the pH soil is low, so be in sure what the metals metabolism in plant and kinetic in soil to get significant results.

I agree with Raghad sister. The optimum soil pH for metal uptake by plant is acidic. So the soil pH should keep in mind. As soil pH decreases (low), the uptake of heavy metals increases. For all pots, take the soil having constant pH with acidic in nature.@
Single superphosphate Ca(H2PO4)2, Urea CO(NH2)2 and Potassium sulphate (K2SO4) were applied as a source of P, N, K at the ratio of 1000ppm(mL/L). N, 500 ppm P and 700ppm of K, accordingly. Fertilizers were provided in two different ways: direct addition into soil (liquid form) or spray over the leaves of plants, individual (K, P and N) or in combined form (NPK).

I am sorry for the delay in update.
I had to get the soil and the field was far from my green house. The experiment is in Jilin China. The plant under experiment is rice. I start in April 2019 and have to complete by the end of December 2019.
All I’m doing now is making sure I have everything set and do not make any mistakes during the experiment. Currently my pots are filled, weighed, arranged and labeled.
Regarding the fertilizer, I read your paper and I have attached a file for your kind review. I’m still having some issues with calculating how much fertilizer per pot.
