I recommend looking up "phosphene" in Wikipedia. I am not aware of any light of biological origin within the eyes of humans, but certainly many taxa have evolved cells that produce light. Look up "bioluminescence" in Wikipedia. Wikipedia mentions "biophotons"; I am not qualified to comment on that. Usually, phosphenes are associated with/caused by activity of neurons in visual areas or tracts of the brain (including retina) that are not caused by light; such may be spontaneous or evoked by sounds, pulsatile blood flow, mechanical pressure on the eyeball, externally generated electric or magnetic fields , some migraine headaches.
