Some clinical isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa exhibit resistance to IMP, MERO, TIC, TCC and PIP, high MIC to MERO and IMP tested to identify their resistance mechanism, were negative the MbL test and didn't show any difference in the MIC for MERO when tested in presence and abscence of the PAbN EPI (Efflux pimps Inhibitor)????
How could we caracterize their resistance machenism?

The best way to identify resistance would be PCR based gene amplification using specific primers
Have you tested the deactivation of OprD? Have you done the search of carbapenemase by the Carba NP test or other test? Have you used boronic acid or cluxacillin to inhibit AmpC? You should know that resistance to carbapenem is rarely linked to efflux and even if, the MICs should be low.
Abdelaziz Touati@ yes we proceeded to DDST for identifying carbapenemase and all were negative plus no OprD in these strains .

@Manel Merradi, this could be a case of complete deletion of OprD gene. I will advise you to focus on this gene since the strains have tested negative for MBL and no efflux pump activity was detected. In most non-carbapenemase imipenem resistant PS aeruginosa, resistance is usually due to mutation (point or insertion) in the OprD gene. Best of luck.
