Hi I am doing ball milling for transforming Tio2 anatase compound micron powder into nano powder. after XRD test it is found that The anatase phase of tio2 is transforming into the rutile phase after 21 hours of milling operation with possible size reduction. However, anatase phase start increasing after 30 hrs milling operation. Why this is happening?

Anatase is more thermodynamically stable and the ball mill produces a lot of heat. I am unsure whether you can produce nano-TiO2 via this route. Google 'Comminution Limit'

Synthesis time and the grain size of the production may strongly depend on the milling parameters, such as milling speed, ball-to-powder weight ratio (BPR), type of mill, and raw materials.
