There is no need to eliminate that, that is not an error as in a sense of wrong analysis, that is a measure for the resolution of the contact. Different normal behaviours will behave harder or softer and will give you less or more penetration. Note, very hard behaviour (little penetration) can give you convergence problems, while overly soft behaviour will solve easier but the result might not be physically correct.

Depending on your application, you can tolerate less or more overclosure, that penetration error is a diagnostics measure of that. If you want to minimise penetration error, make the contact behave stiffer by changing the normal properties (refer to the manual for your options).
