In your institution, when recruiting a assistant professor, are patents valued at the same level as scientific paper?

My experience with faculty members is that it is not much.From an administrative perspective, patents can represent a revenue source for universities. This will be evaluated positively by accreditation entities since there are alternative revenue streams not just enrollment.
Universities and other PRIs are no longer seen only as net contributors to the repository of basic knowledge, but also, and increasingly, as direct contributors to the flow of inventions
According to my understanding, patents without any commercialization benefit have no value.
