28 September 2016 3 10K Report

I would like to address this question to doctors, pharmacists, nurses and scientists, especially infectious diseases specialists.

What is your opinion or stand on this editorial by Dr Brad Spellberg published in JAMA on September 2016, The New Antibiotic Mantra—“Shorter Is Better”

http://archinte.jamanetwork.com/article.aspx?articleid=2536180

On the last paragraph, it was stated: "Here we need to change the dogma: patients should no longer be told to keep taking the antibiotic. Patients should be told that if their symptoms resolve before completing the antibiotic they should communicate with their physician to determine if they can stop the therapy early. Health care professionals should be encouraged to allow patients to stop antibiotic treatment as early as possible on resoultion of symptoms of infection".

I would like to know if this will have any effect on your practice. What do you do to embed this in your practice as a doctor?
