I would like to know a finite element software which provides open source codes for large deformation analysis for beam and shell elements.
Try Calculix
Freefem++ is a open source FEM software, but I am not sure whether it can do large scale deformation analysis of beams!
Thank you Dr Mani S Santhanakrishnan and Dr Abhimanyu Kumar
Hi
Code Aster is an open source general FE code for linear and non-linear problems. It is quite a quirky code.
That said, I believe you get all of them + some more if you download a CAELinux runtime DVD. https://caelinux.com/CMS3/index.php/download

Thank you Claes Richard Fredö
Could I run Code Aster on windows? Claes Richard Fredö
Maybe. There is a Windows version but it is not easy to get it to work. Simpler is the CAELinux runtimeDVD.

Thanks Claes Richard Fredö
I would also recommend Code Aster. Although I am not a user of it, I believe that it is one of the best open source FEM codes available.
You can find the windows version here: https://code-aster-windows.com/
Cheers,
George

If you are pythonic guy, PHENICS is a fantastic option for your need.

Dear Khaled,
Go through PHENICS and FEAPpv with IgA and RVE. Both are good for finite strain deformations. FEAPpv may be good for your deformation solution.

I havn't used the open source codes yet but I think deal.ii and Moose are quite famous in solving FEM related problems.
you are true. Ok.
MOOSE is an object-oriented C++ finite element framework for the development of tightly coupled multiphysics solvers. You can try with FEAPpv also.
If 'P' is the part name The first form: P.ReferencePoint(point=(0, 0, 0)) R= P.referencePoints[l] P.DatumPointByOffset(point=R, vector=(10,0,0)) P.DatumPointByOffset(point=R,...

I can use rigid body element or MPC constraint (type beam). What the difference between them? Is there any alternative way to define this rigid link? Thanks for reading

When I tried to energy minimization my system, I got fatal error as below. Fatal error: Atomtype opls_116 not found Although I've already added this line: ; include water #include "oplsaa.ff/spc.itp" to [molecultype] directive in my topology.
