ER2566 by NEB is what we are utilizing for pr expression, with merits of fhuA2 mutation. Apparently its resistance spectrum is not wide enough to combat all kinds of bacteriophages we encounter, and I am taking advice of alternating different phage-resistant strains so that co-evolution of phage will not happen so readily.
I would like to the name know any phage resistant E.coli strains, hopefully that could mitigate the serious contamination problem. Many thanks beforehand:)
I think you are asking for the impossible. There is no mutation that confers resistance to all the different phages, each of the phage resistance alleles is primarily for one specific phage. For example lamB mutants confer resistance to phage lambda, tonB to phage T1 and phi80, and fhuA to phage T2 (I think) among dozens of others. These mutations all knock out the surface receptor where the specific phage binds in order to attach and infect.
You should determine whether you are having problems with different bacteriophages or just one type that you get repeated infections with. If the latter, then you could just isolate a resistant strain yourself.
