Following the change of the injection system, I am faced with the problem of communication between the manual injector and the PC. The latter is equipped with a Varian acquisition card Star chromatography workstation ver 4.51. Thanks in advance for your help.
Manual injection valves have a micro-switch that is is connected across a voltage and a sense line. The HPLC software acts on an injection for a change in state (sense line "seeing" voltage, or the removal of the voltage). A serial port transmits data as packets that are defined within the system.

Alternatively, page 8 lists using a "start signal" from an A/D card. See page 33 of the link above for a description of the connection, and you will need to configure the system to recognize that start signal from the micro-switch listed earlier.

I took a look at the files you sent me. This corresponds to a much more recent system (version 6) compared to my device (version 4.51).
In fact I bought a rheodyne 9725i injector with a pair of cables that must be connected to the serial port (DB9) of the waters acquisition board. This will automatically launch the integration by the PC at the time of injection, which will minimize errors in retention times compared to manual start of the integration. My problem is that I don't know on which pin of the serial port to make this connection.
