Is it prior to the coating of active material, Ni foam is pressing to reduce the thickness and is washed with 3 M HCl solution followed by distilled water and ethanol is needed for supercapacitor applications?
The formation of nanosheets/nanoflakes after washing with 3M concentration hydrochloric acid, was studied and its results demonstrate the increase of specific surface area that would enhance the specific capacity of NF surface after washing with hydrochloric acid. as detailed in the following reference: https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:84jPF0EZ8zEJ:https://www.mdpi.com/2079-4991/11/6/1596/pdf+&cd=1&hl=ar&ct=clnk&gl=iq
Normally, current collector substrate is required to be washed before coating active materials, such as aluminum foil, copper foil and nickel foam to remove impurities (like metal oxides). Meanwhile, some materials are nano-sized and they cannot contact tightly on nickel foam substrate, it is necessary to press it to ensure the well contact.
