Hi, When the fungal culture get old it will start to produce chlaymdospore, to induce Fusrium graminearum culture to produce spores you should use incubation with 12h light.
Hello, Chlamydospores are vital asexual resting cells, which allow most of the Fusarium pathogenic strains to retain their longevity, thus ensuring survival of viable reproductive cells. It like protection shields against abiotic factors and biocontrol agents.
Thanks for the replies. I know graminearum overwinters as chlamydospores, but most literature seems to imply these are rarer structure in graminearum. I would hope that there’s no damaging abiotic or biocontrol factors in either media type. They had been growing for a while to generate enough mass, so it could be the age.
